Luxa2 H1-Touch Review

Introduction

Today, we take a look at a product that is different than the typical stuff that we look at on Spectral Blast.  It is called the Luxa2 H1-Touch.  You may be initially unfamiliar with the brand name, but it is a brand that has been created by Thermaltake, a well known name when it comes to coolers and cases.  Ironically, we are not taking a look at a cooler or a case this time.  Instead, the Luxa2 H1-Touch is simply an accessory for your iPod Touch or iPhone.  It is a sophisticated holder/stand for your iPod Touch or iPhone.

Some of you probably have a ton of questions in your head…like why is Thermaltake suddenly making iPod accessories, what is different about this holder/stand, or simply why this kind of product?  Just to make sure we’re on the same page, this product is from the brand name Luxa2.  The Luxa2 brand focuses on well designed, sophisticated, and high quality accessories and products.

A Closer Look

By looking at the box from the outside, you already know that this is no ordinary iPhone holder.  The product came in a small, well packaged box.

Overall, the product initially looks like a stand that you’d might find in an electronics store, but is more than that once you take a closer look.  The product has a perfect curve that forms the base of the stand.  The frame is made of a aluminum keeping the product lightweight.

The bottom of the product has rubber lining to provide grip when sitting on a flat surface.

If you look at the front, you can 6 stubs sticking out which are used to hold your iPhone or iPod touch in place.  In order to fit your Apple product, you just pull apart the stubs to allow room for your iPhone to fit.

To maintain a solid grip and to prevent movement, you squeeze the stubs together until all the stubs make contact with your device and hold it in place.  In addition, the black rubber at the center provides additional grip as well so your device does not move or fall out easily.

Once your device is placed properly in the H1-Touch, you can look at your device in a vertical or horizontal position.  This is easily done by turning the frame one way or another.  That allows you to easily view a movie, play a game, or look at photos on your device.

The stand even tilts as well.  You can adjust your device to tilt forward or backward due to the hinge at the back of the stand.

The bigger question is does this thing serve its purpose.  I’d say a resounding yes.  Every time I look at this thing, it reminds me of something you’d see in a retail store.  But of course, this one is more adjustable isn’t meant to ‘lock down’ your phone.  The iPhone will sit comfortably in the stand in portrait or landscape mode.  It is easy to switch between the two.  The grips hold the iPhone in place and never give me the feeling that it will fall out of it for no reason.

Conclusion

The Luxa2 H1-Touch definitely oozes of quality and style.  This product can be purchased at the company website (http://www.luxa2store.com) at the price of $54.99.  If you are looking for a stand where you can place your iPhone in, this is the product for you.  After coming home, you just place your iPhone in the H1-Touch.  If you plug in the charger along with the right app, you will essentially have a desk clock.   Or if you have a movie to show, you gather a few friends and watch around it.  It is a bit odd for people to gather around such a small screen, but nevertheless, the Luxa2 H1-Touch does enable you to if the occasion calls for it.

Good
+sturdy metal design
+stylish, quality materials
+may also work with other cellphones/devices similar in shape to the iPhone

Bad
-expensive
-people are not really going to gather and watch a movie on it
